Day 401 24th August
15 miles (Petofitelep, to Szombathely) Average speed 7.3 mph Top speed 16 mph
I’m celebrating 400 days on the road by staying in a hotel instead of sleeping in the garden of one. Last night I camped in joszi bacsi hotel’s garden with their receptionist explaining they were full for the carnival that starts today. Can you imagine this happening in an English hotel?
After I’d set up my tent and had a fantastic meal in the restaurant the receptionist came to the end of the garden to inform me that they’d had a cancellation, but as I was all set up I decided to stay in my tent. So it’s Roman carnival time here in Szombathely, Hungary, for the next 4 days. I’ll be checking out the festivities tonight but so far I’m loving Hungary. It’s 29 c the people are all so friendly and the countryside beautiful.
I’m having some real iPhone battery issues. I know it’s an old 4s and I should buy a better one but if I turn it off overnight with 80% charge why should it only have 50% in the morning? Even if I keep it in a warm place! Any helpful suggestions welcome. Thank you. Off to see some Romans now.
