Day 465 28th October
34 miles (Ouazanne to Souk al Arba du Gharb) Average speed 12.9mph Top speed 31 mph
Another great day.
I got up at 9 and watched BBC world news after a not-so-good nights sleep once again, this time due to a rock hard mattress which later I discovered was made of polystyrene! ( good job there wasn’t a fire). I went down to the cafe next door for coffee and WiFi, then across the road for brekkie of OJ, coffee, olives, cream cheese, fried egg, bread and milk with 3 dates. I returned to the hotel to see if I could leave stuff there while I went shopping, which he said was OK, and he even put a plaster on my head after I’d banged it on the open window! So I went shopping for gifts, but soon ran out of money and the atm didn’t have any, so I had to change up some euros.
Then when I returned to the toy/book shop it was closed, so I checked out of the hotel and had coffee next door in the cafe while watching ManU v Spurs and charging my phone in the heat of midday. At 1.30 the toy shop reopened so I bought some colouring pencils and left. I also managed to lose the cap of my brake lever for the second time, hopefully I won’t be getting any sand in it this time. It was a good run downhill once I got out of town and I enjoyed the breeze and a good speed.
It is great to be back in Morocco and climbing some more mountains. It’s much easier to return when you know a bit about the culture and what’s good to eat and drink. As much it’s good to experience new places; it’s much easier when you know what to expect. It’s also pretty good to get some good sunshine, 31 degrees today, got to keep that tan topped up – I was starting to get a bit pasty!!!
