Day 861 28th November 2018
40 miles (Sebong Perah to Treasure Bay Bintan) Average speed 9.6 mph Top speed 36 mph
We were up at 7am and left by 7.30 with very little to pack.
I took some pictures of a giant turtle by the beach and then we climbed the first hill and we were rewarded with a super strong coffee in a cafe. I had biscuits and some fried pakora filled with cabbage of some kind.

We set off to climb a couple more hills before cruising along a beach road for a while. Before turning inland we sampled a campsite beach but as it was next to a sewage pipe it wasn’t very appealing! Lucas had a paddle and we left to tackle more hills on the way back to where we had dinner the night before.
We stopped for drinks at a shop where the owner was keen to charge 5000 rupiha for everything we bought and was very interested in my sterling notes. When he started begging me for rupiah we chose to leave. The next drinks stop was much more friendly and they charged half the price for water. Lucas even had a sleep on the bench outside.
We had lunch in the same place as dinner the previous night and then took on the hills we climbed the night before. I saw some frogs and snakes as roadkill and then stopped for photos with the twin monkey statues.

We carried on hoping to find a cheap hotel at Lagoa beach and ended up at a golf course hotel where Lucas tried to negotiate the price down from 150 US dollars but it was never going to work.

Golf course hotel – beautiful but too expensive
We cycled all the way back up and then as I turned left and thought he saw me, he in fact turned right towards the ferry. I waited for a while, but he didn’t show, I eventually found him at the ferry port. He wanted to go back to Singapore, but another 2 hrs cycling and no confirmation of residence meant we returned to the apartments we had seen before. They were pretty good for 600,000 as we had separate bedrooms and a kitchen with a living room too. After the toss of a coin, I got the double bed and he had a single with not much support.
