Day 868 5th December 2018
49 miles (Pontian to Batu pahat) Average speed 11.4 mph Top speed 30 mph
I got up at 7 even though I didn’t get to bed til 2.30 due to copious quantities of beer.
I had brekkie with Jackie at a Chinese restaurant of noodles, egg, curried boiled egg and sausage with coffee. I went back to the cycling club to pack and left at 10.45 to see trawlers bringing in their haul.

Trawlers brining in their catch
Then we made our way to the 5 road which took us all the way. It was a pretty good road with a shoulder most of the way. After an hour we stopped for an iced coffee and I left my gloves behind and had to go back to retrieve them. Soon I caught back up with the boys and it was a fairly easy ride.
I travelled slowly with Don most of the way. We had lunch of fried fruit fritters and an iced sweet blue drink. Then we caught up with Lucas for another rest at an antique shop. The rain came, but it was quite refreshing, and then the last ten miles was a bit of climbing with some good runs back down and then one big one into town, where we found the restaurant where Jerry met us and let us in to use the large upstairs area to shower and sleep for the night.

Holiday Home
After a shower we went to a hawker centre for Chinese pork noodles followed by a fresh oyster dish made by a friendly chef. This was all washed down with a bottle of tiger beer. Lucas did his washing at laundry while Don and I retired to our beds.
