Day 1101 26th July 2019
35 miles (Dandin to viewpoint and restaurant. ) Average speed 7.7 mph Top speed 30 mph
What an incredible day.
I checked out after a cold shower and went across the road for two cold coffees and a raspberry bun. Then I spotted a green bunjee to hold the broken pannier in place. I’m not sure they charged me for it but has helped immeasurably.
I hit the road with lots of trucks at 9.30 and climbed a couple of small hills and was surprised at how long it took to get to the serious stuff. I stopped after an hour and treated myself to a cappuccino from amazon cafe, mainly to use their WiFi, but at 1.50 a tiny cup it’s expensive WiFi. I also had an overfilled sarnie, which was also 1.50 from a lovely girl at a stand. You always pay more at petrol stations, but not as bad as the U.K.! I spent a while debating which route to take while having a sprite.
Then I got onto the proper climbing,

Mountain climbing in the rain

A brief stop

Rain

The road through clouds and rain

and more rain

Time to stop, the rain isn’t going to!
I’ve had some tough times during my trip but 3.1 miles up a mountain in the rain has to be one of my toughest. I slept in a windswept restaurant with a wonderful family who supplied me with amazing food and hospitality Although I probably only got two hours sleep, I enjoyed their company and tried to sleep after the man of the house threatened to cut my throat if I touched his wife whilst he was out night hunting!!
