Day 951 26th February 2019
67 miles (Hutan Melintang to Beruas) Average speed 13 mph Top speed 27 mph
Another great day.
I woke up at 8.30 to hear couple in the next room having morning fun. There was nowhere nearby for brekkie so I set off on 5 road, but soon found a good roti telur and excellent coffee. Then I took the busy 5 until a stop for food and cold 100 plus at a supermarket. There were roadworks all the way to the turn off to the right onto the 18. Once in it I enjoyed the quieter road and stopped at a garage to pump up my tyres for the long journey which I thought would be quiet along the river.
I met two guys and a girl who served me two big glasses of lime juice and 4 bananas while we chatted. They were really nice and the guy offered me a shower at his house but I pushed on. I took a good quiet road to join the 18 and stopped off by the river for bananas and water. It was another very hot day and I’ve been drinking so much it’s hard to keep count.
All day it was hard to tell which way the wind was blowing but at least it cooled me down a bit. Sweaty shorts are not comfortable so I changed in an empty roadside shop and I don’t think anyone noticed! I went without cycling shorts knowing that I was about to stop for lunch which meant I could hang them up to dry on a gas safety sign while I had chicken and rice.

I got to Beruas but didn’t find anywhere to stay, so ended up at a HIndu temple where I made myself as comfortable as possible under their shelter. They are very hospitable in the temples here.
